Parlem de Pintura...
Carlo Saraceni (Venècia, 1579 - Venècia, 16 de juny de 1620) va ser un pintor italià. El 1598 es va traslladar a Roma, unint-se a l'Accademia di San Luca el 1607. Tot i que mai va visitar França, parlava un francès fluid i va tenir seguidors francesos. Les seves pintures no obstant van mostrar influències dels paisatges densament boscosos i amb figures humanes del pintor alemany resident a Roma Adam Elsheimer. En aquest sentit, Saraceni va pintar sis paisatges que il·lustraven El vol d'Ícar (Museo di Capodimonte, Nàpols), Moisès i les filles de Jethro (National Gallery, Londres) i Mart i Venus (Museu d'Art, São Paulo). Més tard va rebre una marcada influència de Caravaggio, pel que fa a les seves figures monumentals o en els detalls naturals, de manera que es va situar entre els primers "tenebristes" o "caravaggistas". La seva carrera de maduresa es va desenvolupar en la dècada posterior al 1610. El 1616-17 va col·laborar amb els frescos per a la Sala Règia al Palazzo Quirinale de Roma. El 1618 va rebre un encàrrec per dues pintures per a l'Església de S. Maria dell' Anima. El 1620 va tornar a Venècia, on va morir el juny d'aquell any.

Parlem de Música...
Francesco Durante (Frattamaggiore, 31 de març de 1684 - Napoli, 30 de setembre de 1755) va ser un compositor italià i un dels més destacats del barroc tardà a Europa. El setè fill de Gaetano Durante i Orsola Capasso, es va formar inicialment amb el seu pare, un antic cantant a S Maria degli Angeli e S Sossio de Frattamaggiore. Posteriorment, va estudiar amb el seu oncle Don Angelo Durante (c.1650-c.1704), primo maestro del Conservatori San Onofrio de Nàpols, fins el 1705 any en què Francesco va publicar la seva primera obra, el breu drama Prodigii della divina misericordia verso I devoti del glorioso S Antonio di Padova, estrenat a Nàpols. El seu rastre es perd fins el 1728 any en què va assolir el càrrec de primo maestro al Conservatori dei Poveri di Gesù Cristo de Nàpols. Pel que sembla, també va estudiar a Roma amb Pasquini i Pitoni durant els primers anys del segle XVIII. La influència musical romana en l'obra de Durante ha fet creure en aquesta possibilitat tot i l'absència de registres i documents que així ho acreditin. A partir del 1730 va començar a viatjar per Àustria, Alemanya i Bohèmia països on s'han localitzat nombroses còpies dels seus treballs. Al seu retorn a Nàpols, va assolir diversos càrrecs si bé va mantenir la seva principal dedicació a la docència en el Conservatori on va tenir notables alumnes com Pergolesi, Girolamo Abos, Domènec Terradellas i Joseph Doll, entre molts altres. Després de 10 anys de servei, va renunciar al seu càrrec el setembre de 1739, càrrec que va assumir Francesco Feo. Els tres anys següents Durante va romandre inactiu i no va ser fins el 1742 que va accedir a un càrrec al Conservatori di S Maria di Loreto de Nàpols, amb alumnes com Piccini, Paisiello o Jommelli, i on hi va treballar el 13 anys següents, fins el setembre de 1755, any de la seva mort.
