---
Brazilian composer, violinist and organist. Almost nothing is known
about his life and career. He probably was the son of Antônio de Souza
Lôbo, the "Patriarca Musical de Vila Rica". He was active as a member of
the brotherhood Irmandade de São José dos Homens Pardos and from 1780
he was appointed organist of several churches in Vila Rica in a post he
held until his death. As a composer, he mainly wrote sacred music, among
them, Domingo de Ramos, Matinas de Santo Antonio e Responsórios de São
Francisco de Assis. He probably was the father of the composer Jerônimo
de Souza Lobo Queiroz (?-1826)
