George Barret, Sr. (Dublin, c.1730 - London, 29 de maig de 1784) va ser un pintor irlandès i un dels membres fundadors de la London Royal Academy. Fill d'un comerciant de teles, es va formar com a aprenent en el taller del seu pare. Ràpidament, va començar a dibuixar tot completant els seus estudis a la Royal Dublin Society. Va viatjar a Anglaterra on es va especialitzar en la pintura de paisatges assolint l'èxit i la fama amb les seves vistes de naturalesa salvatge. Va exposar regularment a la Royal Academy entre els anys 1769 i 1782. Els darrers anys va patir algunes dificultat financeres. Amb l'ajuda del seu amic i client Edmund Burke va poder accedir al càrrec de pintor de l'Hospital de Chelsea. Els seus quatre fills van ser pintors tot i que només George Barret, Jr. va aconseguir certa notorietat sent un dels primers membres de la Society of Painters in Water Colours. Barret va morir a Londres el maig de 1784.

Johann Christoph Schmidt (Ansbach, 1712 - Bath, 3 d'octubre de 1795) va ser un compositor alemany. Fill de Johann Christoph Schmidt (d.1763), es va formar amb el seu pare, el copista principal d'Händel, abans d'estudiar amb el mateix Händel, amb Pepusch i amb Thomas Roseingrave. La seva primera òpera fou Ulysses (1733) la qual va marcar l'inici de la seva carrera com a compositor destacant posteriorment amb òperes com The Fairies (1755) o The Tempest (1756) i també pels oratoris com Paradise Lost (1760). També va compondre música per a clavecí en 5 volums (1732-1763) i serveis funeraris (1772) per la princesa de Gales, antiga alumna seva. Sempre se'l recordarà per haver estat l'assistent d'Händel a partir del moment en què va quedar cec. Va morir a Bath l'octubre de 1795.
