Parlem de Pintura...

Jean-Marc Nattier (Paris, 17 de març de 1685 - Paris, 7 de novembre de 1766) va ser un pintor francès. Fill de Marc Nattier 'el vell' i de Marie Courtois, pintora miniaturista francesa, va estudiar sota la direcció del seu pare i més tard a l'Académie royale de peinture et de sculpture i a la Galeria Luxemburg. El 1718 es va convertir en membre de l'Acadèmia i el 1752 en professor de la mateixa. Entre els anys 1737 i 1763 va exposar en quasi tots els Salons de París. Anteriorment havia rebut nombrosos encàrrecs per a realitzar retrats de diversos personatges notables de la cort de l'Imperi Rus. Tanmateix, va rebutjar una invitació formal per treballar a Rússia que va causar-li enormes dificultats financeres. Més tard va esdevenir pintor del rei Lluís XV de França. Tot i aquest càrrec, va acabar els seus dies implorant una pensió que no va aconseguir. Va morir a París el novembre de 1766 en l'absoluta misèria.



Parlem de Música...

John Eccles (London?, 1668 - Hampton Wick, 12 de gener de 1735) va ser un compositor anglès. Fill d'Henry Eccles (c.1645-1711), i familiar directe de Solomon Eccles, Solomon Eccles II (1649-1710) i d'Henry Eccles, es va formar inicialment amb el seu pare. Poc després, la seva pista es va perdre fins que va publicar, el 1691, la seva primera col·lecció de cançons. A partir del 1693 va assolir un càrrec de compositor en el Teatre Reial de Drury Lane on ràpidament es va fer conegut per les seves obres teatrals. El 1695 i després de les disputes dels músics amb els seus superiors va fundar, sota la direcció de Thomas Betterton, la companyia Lincoln’s Inn Fields en la qual Eccles en va assumir la direcció musical. El setembre de 1696 va assolir, en substitució de Thomas Tollet, un lloc en els 24 Musicians-in-Ordinary del rei i el juny de 1700 va ser nomenat ‘Master of Musick, in the room of Dr Staggins’. En aquests càrrecs hi va romandre fins al seu retir definitiu a Hampton Wick, ciutat on va morir el gener de 1735.
