Parlem de Pintura...

Francesco Capella (Venezia, 5 de juliol de 1711 - Bergamo, 1784) va ser un pintor italià. Es creu va rebre formació de Giovanni Battista Piazzetta, autor de qui va rebre la seva principal influència al llarg de la seva obra. A partir del 1744 va constar com a pintor a Venècia i poc després, el 1747, va realitzar la seva primera obra per a l'església de S. Andrea de Cortona. A partir d'aleshores es va especialitzar en pintura religiosa, per a diverses esglésies de Bèrgam i el seu entorn, i en pintura de temàtica històrica. El seu estil, si bé inicialment proper al del seu mestre, va anar evolucionant fins a mostrar certes similituds amb el del pintor Tiepolo. Francesco Capella va morir a Bèrgam el 1784.



Parlem de Música...

Niccolò Jommelli (Aversa, 10 de setembre de 1714 - Napoli, 25 d'agost de 1774) va ser un compositor italià, un dels que va tenir més renom dels molts compositors d'òpera de la seva època. Va estudiar amb el canonge Muzzillo de la Catedral de San Paolo de la seva ciutat natal Aversa, a Nàpols, amb Leonardo Leo i Francesco Feo, al Conservatori de S. Onofrio i al Conservatori de la Pietà dei Turchini. A partir del 1736 va ser mestre de capella del marquès d'Avalos, que es va convertir en el seu protector des de l'estrena, al Teatre Nuovo de Nàpols, de la seva òpera bufa l'Errore amoroso (1737), a la qual va seguir Odoardo (1738). L'èxit aconseguit amb aquestes obres va fer que escrivís per a diversos escenaris italians, com els de Roma i Bolonya. A partir del 1741, va ser membre de l'Acadèmia Filharmònica de Venècia, on l'alemany Johann Adolph Hasse el va nomenar director del Conservatori degli Incurabili (1743-1747). Entre els anys 1748 i 1750 va estar a Viena, on va col·laborar amb Metastasio i a Roma va ser nomenat mestre de capella adjunt de Sant Pere. A partir del 1753, va ser mestre de capella del duc de Wurtemberg a la cort de Stuttgart. Durant aquesta època va equilibrar la tradició italiana de l'òpera seriosa amb la tècnica instrumental alemanya i el teatre francès. Durant els seus anys d'activitat a Stuttgart va elevar la qualitat teatral de la ciutat, arribant a ser reconeguda a tot Europa. Durant aquesta època va compondre, entre altres obres, Fetonte (1753), Cantone in Utica (1754) i les noves versions de Enzio (1758) i de Didone abbandonatta (1763). El 1769 va abandonar la ciutat alemanya i va tornar a Aversa, on va compondre música de cambra i música religiosa, entre la que va destacar un Miserere. Va morir a Nàpols l'agost del 1774.
